Youth Conference 2010--Be Strong

So we had our youth conference this past weekend.  It was a great all day event.  We started with breakfast at the church bright and early at 7:00 am.  After which we went to the cemetery in Salt Lake City.

Matt Mcbride gave us a great tour of some grave sites of pioneers who were examples of being strong and courageous.  Some of the people he taught us about were: Emmaline B. Wells--a pioneer in women's voting rights in Utah as well as in getting education to both boys and girls; Orin Porter Rockwell--faithful to the prophet Joseph, W.W. Phelps--who had the courage to ask for forgiveness after some pretty bad choices he made that hurt Joseph Smith and many of the saints; Mary Fielding Smith--who crossed the plains as a widow and made it into SLC before her wagon company; Zina Young--who followed the prophets command to building up a silk worm farm even though she was deathly afraid of worms and had nightmares for the rest of her life about silk worms. There was a good spirit there.  We even got to see President and Sister Hinckley's grave site

Our next stop was the Beehive House.  I personally didn't get to go inside because I was delayed do to a little issue that needed to be addressed, but it turned out fine.  i got some good shots of the outside of the Beehive house (Brigham Young's Salt Lake Home) and enjoyed the company of my friend Melissa.  Apparently the tour guide for this destination was anything but nice, and didn't really let the youth take time to look at any of the rooms for very long.

Next we headed to the Church Office Building to it's observation deck.

After the observation deck at the C.O.B. we went to the South Visitor Center where we saw this amazing display of the Salt Lake Temple.  You can view the cutaway model Here .  It is really cool!

Our next stop was Centerville.  We finished our conference up at Ryan's parent's home.  They have great accommodations and it made for a wonderful afternoon and evening!

Then we had some fun on best slip and slide ever and the pool of course.

I tried going on my belly but ended up with a big bruise on my side.  But here are a couple of people who avoid such injury.

The evening ended with a great dinner and fireside!
